Sinai Moves to Centre-Stage
This publication examines the security situation in the Sinai peninsula. Dramatic changes as well as a long history of neglect and discrimination by the central government in Cairo, have made the Sinai peninsula increasingly unstable. The collapse of the old order has created new threats to Egyptian, Israeli and Palestinian security. The existing framework for bilateral and multilateral consultation and monitoring, the author argues, were devised to preserve an environment that no longer exists.
