Power to the blogs

This brief argues that the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings were not caused solely by social media but rather by the convergence of various forms of media. In what the author calls the 'new media revolution', television-media, social, and online networks are combining to become a powerful weapon in the hands of the common man. Consequently, what began with the Jasmine Revolution was not a fad, but a phenomenon that has democratized the control and monopoly over information.
