Higher Education in the Arab World
Hopes and Challenges
This chapter examines the state of higher education in the Arab world and the challenges it faces. The author notes that there is a dire need in the Arab world for a complete re-examination of higher education, research policy and planning in order to improve its quality to meet modern society's needs. He outlines some of the major drawbacks in the current educational systems in the Arab world and discusses some options to reform them.
