Social Media, Free Speech and the Law
This is a transcript of a discussion with Keir Starmer QC, Director of Public Prosecutions of the UK Crown Prosecution Service. In his talk, Keir Starmer provides insights into the guidelines the Crown Prosecution Service has drafted on prosecuting cases involving communications sent via social media. He argues that the rapid growth in social media poses a challenge to the balance between free speech and the reach of the criminal law.
