Coming to Grips with Soil Erosion in Central Tanzania
This paper investigates the impact of and fight to reverse soil erosion in the Kondoa region of Tanzania. It surveys the predicament, its socio-economic repercussions and details the government's conservation project HADO. The author argues that efforts to curb soil erosion succeeded, restored livelihoods and evolved to provide new opportunities for economic development.
