Modifying the 2°C Target
Climate Policy Objectives in the Contested Terrain of Scientific Policy Advice, Political Preferences, and Rising Emissions
This paper argues that the 2°C limit for a global temperature increase needs to be modified. This is because global emissions trends show the goal to be unrealistic. The author offers possible medium term options for modification of the target, as well as discussion on the future of the relationship between climate policy and climate research.
