Legal Arguments for the Adoption and Implementation of an Arms Trade Treaty
This paper provides an overview of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) process. It sets out a number of legal issues that are prevalent in the treaty discussions, especially with respect to China, which has played an important role in the process. The paper explores in detail a number of the issues raised during the discussions to date, including some of the views China has expressed concerning possible provisions of the ATT.
