Global Jihad in Syria: Disputes Amidst a Common Goal
This policy brief argues that the jihadist movement in Syria is divided. Inter-faction rivalries have exposed significant rifts, challenging the image of a unified Islamic jihadist bloc. Nonetheless, the author cautions that the groups retain a common cause, and the internationalization of the civil war may prompt further instability. The author concludes that the prospect of a salafist Syrian state may induce international intervention in the conflict.
