Arms for Syria?
This paper examines the political risks, legal restraints and humanitarian implications of the UK supplying arms to combatants in the Syrian Civil War. By exploring these issues and more, the paper concludes that the UK sending weapons would, 1) likely be a violation of international law, 2) only prolong the Syrian conflict, 3) increase the amount of death, displacement and suffering, and 4) actually contribute to the local arms race.
