The Future of Syria and the Regional Arms Race
This paper addresses some of the open questions in the Syrian crisis. In particular, the author analyzes the weaknesses of the opposition groups, the funding and arming of the opposition, the differences between moderate and extremist forces and the humanitarian aid provided to the Syrian refugees. The paper also discusses the active engagement of Arab Gulf countries, and asserts that the covert arms race taking place in Syria could spread as the conflict continues.
