GIGA Working Papers
The German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) is the largest German and one of the largest European research institutes of area and comparative area studies. Its research is focused on political, economic and social developments in Africa, Asia, Latin America as well as North Africa and the Near and Middle East. The GIGA Working Paper Series disseminates the research results of work in progress prior to publication to encourage the exchange of ideas and academic debate.
