Global Environmental Change: Implications for Food Security and International Security
In this audio presentation from the 2013 International Security Forum, five experts examine the relationship between food security and the current international security system. Improving the former, they collectively argue, will require greater sensitivity to the environmentally-based security challenges we now face. To support their point, the speakers then look at several environmentally-driven food security crises that could occur sooner than later. (Note: The speakers include Sven Alkalaj from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe); Timothy Swanson from The Graduate Institute, Geneva); Maximo Torero from the International Food Policy Research Institute), and Dennis Hamro-Drotz from the United Nations Environment Programme. The discussant is Keith Krause from The Graduate Institute, Geneva.)
