US, China and the Asia-Pacific Century
In this audio presentation from the 2013 International Security Forum, four experts consider two interrelated trends -- the growing importance of Asia in world affairs and the United States' increased level of engagement with the region. Whether these trends will lead to an Asia-Pacific century of cooperation and prosperity or widespread insecurity and instability remains an open question. It is also the question the following speakers attempt to address: François Heisbourg from the Council of the GCSP Foundation and the Foundation for Strategic Studies; Kenneth Lieberthal from the Brookings Institution; Cui Liru from the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, and Nobushige Takamizawa from Japan's National Institute for Defence Studies.
