Managing Transitions in the Middle East and North Africa
In this audio presentation from the 2013 International Security Forum, three experts discuss the multifaceted challenges and uncertainties now facing a transitioning Middle East and North Africa. More specifically, the speakers 1) look at how different actors -- local and international, state and non-state -- are responding to these challenges and uncertainties, and 2) how the transition processes presently underway might be directed to ensure lasting democratization and sustainable political liberalization. (Note: The speakers in this exchange include Joseph Bahout from SciencesPo/IEP de Paris; K Mustapha Al-Sayyid from The American University in Cairo, and Riccardo Bocco from The Graduate Institute, Geneva.)
