Weapons in Defense of the State - When More is Less
In this audio presentation, Pierre Gobinet (Small Arms Survey), Nicolas Florquin (Small Arms Survey) and Peter Batchelor (UNDP Country Program Iraq) highlight 1) the problems typically associated with managing stockpiles of small arms, and 2) blunting the transfer of surplus ammunition and weapons that were originally bought, and brought, for 'legitimate' actors. The panelists also elaborate on the old adage that more weapons often do not equal greater security, particularly in the case of small arms and light weapons.
