Radicalization and Deradicalization: How Terrorism Begins and Ends
In this audio presentation, three experts explore what they see as significant regional and global trends in political radicalization and deradicalization. More specifically, they look at the controversial pathways and processes that lead individuals to legitimize and participate in political violence and terrorist acts. They then conclude their discussion by looking at the approaches needed to impede and reverse radicalization when and where it occurs. (Note: The speakers include the RAND Corporation's Brian Jenkins; Edwin Bakker, from the International Centre for Counterterrorism [ICCT]; and Lorenzo Vidino, from the Zurich-based Center for Security Studies [CSS].)
