Keeping the Peace in the 21st Century
While norms and soft power are becoming more important to UN peacekeeping, enforcement remains the only way to protect those whose lives are in danger, explains Kieran Dwyer. Mr Dwyer, Head of Communications at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, also discusses how recent operations have moved beyond simple enforcement to address other aspects of peace support and peacebuilding.
