In 2008, the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, with support from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), organized a one year project that sought to identify the ideal state of peace and security wanted in Northeast Asia in the year 2025. Scholars from across the region were asked to address seven key issues that are tied to this desired state, and to make policy recommendations that would close the gap between current trends and the identified ideal. This book is a compilation of their papers; it considers issues ranging from the impact of the global financial crisis on Northeast Asia to the long-term impacts China’s rise might have on the region.
